Jack Arute, Dave Sutherland Joining GW Promotional Group For 2022 Season

GW Promotional Group announced on Tuesday that Jack Arute and Dave Sutherland have both joined the team for the 2022 racing season. Both Arute and Sutherland will be part of the Whitcomb 5 Series — a group of five races that will take place in New Hampshire with special events scheduled to be part of the calendar. Additional information surrounding the series, including dates and division announcement, is scheduled to be released in the next few days.
Arute — known for his presence on both TV and radio across the country as a current employee of Sirius XM NASCAR Radio and former pit reporter for ABC and ESPN — has covered NASCAR, IndyCar and more. His short-track roots were built in Connecticut — as the historic Stafford Motor Speedway is owned by his family. His brother, Mark, is currently operating as the CEO of one of the top short-tracks in the country, showcasing the SK Modifieds on a weekly basis.
Sutherland — who currently serves as a Marketing Specialist with Monadnock Broadcasting Group — has also been around the sport his whole life. Working as a Public Address Announcer at Monadnock Speedway for more than four decades, Sutherland has spent his life keeping fans engaged and entertained during exciting short-track action at one of New Hampshire’s top tracks. Sutherland is also a former turn announcer for the Motor Racing Network.
“Jack and Dave have both been great friends of mine for many years,” Gregg Whitcomb, owner of GW Promotional Group, said. “Both of them are going to be major assets to making the Whitcomb Five Series a success for the 2022 season. We have a lot of exciting announcements on the horizon and we’re looking forward to bringing forward a great product for the race fans. This is going to be something that drivers, teams and fans are going to want to be a part of next year.”
Gregg runs GW Promotional Group with his wife, Jessica Whitcomb, who is also a major part of the team.
GW Promotional Group has a passion for everything related to motorsports. Owner Gregg Whitcomb grew up in New England, specifically in Keene, New Hampshire, where he was introduced to racing at an early age through his father, Bob. In 1987, while his father owned an established NASCAR Cup Series team, Gregg was tabbed as the General Manager of Bob Whitcomb Racing. The team won the 1990 Daytona 500 with veteran Derek Cope as driver, and also won Rookie of the Year with Ken Bouchard as driver. Gregg has been a part of the local racing scene in New Hampshire for two decades and continues to seek sponsorship to give back to the drivers who make the sport possible along with the help of his wife, Jessica.
Both of the members of the team will be crucial parts of all five events. Arute and Sutherland will both serve as part of the broadcasting team for the races, showcasing the series and its drivers to race fans at multiple different tracks. Jack Arute will also be part of the on-site podcast that the GW Promotional Group is planning to have. The Whitcomb Five Series will also make an appearance on Arute’s new podcast — Wind Tunnel — presented by Advance Auto Parts. As part of Wind Tunnel, Arute catches up with some of the top personalities in the sport to showcase NASCAR racing to an extended audience.
“My relationship with the Whitcomb family goes back to Bob when they decided to tackle Cup racing,” Jack Arute said. “Gregg reached out to me about two years ago and we have spent a lot of time trying to polish it with the idea in mind that the concept will provide the fans with excitement. We’ve added our own twists into it, so that it will stand out as something very different from what the fans see at their local track even though it will be the same exact cars, on the same track.”
Sutherland is excited to be part of the broadcast team for the Modified events. He’s hoping to see a large crowd attend all five races as the GW Promotional Group continues to try to give back to those who have supported the sport.
“These events will be in the name of Gregg’s dad, Bob, and I got to know him ever since I started in the Kenne, New Hampshire area — about 50 years ago,” Sutherland said. “Bob and I actually shared an office suite while working together. What Gregg and the GW Promotional Group is doing to honor Bob and support the racers is great. Jack and I are going to be reunited after a long time. We worked together at Stafford back in the 1970s and he was one of the people that helped me get started and it’s going to be a blast working with him again. It’s a different twist compared to what we normally do and I’m excited for it.”
